I ch-ch-choose you, iTunes U!

I’m probably COMPLETELY behind the times here, but since I just recently bought my first mp3 player (well, technically it’s my second - the first ended up being so buggy and incompatible with my computer that I was never able to use it), the world of podcasts and the iTunes store wasn’t really anything I paid much attention to until now. But now that I have my adorable little hot pink Creative Zen Stone, I’ve been seeing what sort of downloadable content is out there to help keep me entertained while I’m on the treadmill - I’m extremely ADD, and sometimes music just doesn’t cut it & I need more distraction to keep from getting bored mid-workout.

My favorite discovery is iTunes U, which allows you to download podcasts of college courses & lectures completely free of charge. And the schools involved are some heavy hitters - MIT, Stanford, and UC Berkeley are just a few of the universities posting their courses for public consumption.

I’m kind of an sucker for astronomy & classical history, so I’ve been really enjoying being able to download & experience lectures on the subjects from some of the best minds in those fields. I’m currently taking a break from school because I wasn’t sure what I wanted to do with my life & felt that I was wasting money with my “Undecided” sophomore status, so being able to listen to these courses for free is really helping me figure out what exactly I should go back to school for - without all the expense & commitment of bouncing around from major to major. So if anyone else is in the same sort of aimless education boat that I’m in - or if you just dig learning new things - definitely, definitely, definitely check out iTunes U!

Gambling It All On Las Vegas

I don’t think I mentioned this previously, but the boyfriend and I have a sort of dream/goal to move to Las Vegas in the next few years… believe it or not, the cost of living is still pretty cheap there, and it’s close to a lot of my family and friends (I used to be a West Coast girl)… as well, both of our jobs could seamlessly transition there (obviously I can really work from anywhere with internet access, but my industry DOES have lots of events/conventions in Vegas)… and of course, there’s the gambling.

As I expressed earlier, I’m currently researching online casino websites. That may sound completely weird, but as much as I want to try my luck at online gambling… I really want to do it in a responsible (well… as responsible as gambling can be) way. This means that looking into reviews & ratings of all the various online casino services is probably the best route, right? But yeah, I figure I should get myself schooled & primed via the online casino scene first, before we make the big move to LV & I’m suddenly trying my luck against the big guns. Plus, it’ll give me a chance to practice my poker face, which it admittedly horrible… er, with that in might… maybe online gambling is my safest bet.

I’m part of an e-mail list that sends out constant freebie notices; I figured I’d start putting together a monthly (possibly bi-monthly, who knows) post full of the most recent & awesome-sounding freebie offers that end up in my mailbox. Most of these just require an ACTIVE e-mail address, though I’d recommend getting an email address dedicated solely to freebie offers… they do tend to generate spam, which sucks… but hey, free stuff.

Online Casinos & Internet Gambling: Should I?

I am a complete and utter insomniac. I pretty much can’t sleep without the aid of sleeping pills, and even those only work part of the time. So, as you can probably imagine, I end up spending a lot of time scouring the internet for ways to amuse myself in the dead of night. Whether it’s scaring myself silly by reading ghost stories or surfing multiple message boards, I’m constantly on the lookout for some new way to pass the time.

Luckily for me, last night I ended up at this place that reviews online casino websites. I’d always been curious about internet gambling, mostly because I used to date a guy who was REALLY good at it and managed to actually support himself quite comfortably via his winnings. I tend to be a really lucky person when it comes to games of chance and the like (the first time I ever played poker, I won $450) and always wondered if that luck would carry over into cyberspace.

So finding this list of online casino websites has kind of rekindled that spark of interest I had in giving online gambling a shot… I really like that the website offers both user and editor reviews, features a list of the best online casino by player votes, and gives you a rundown of all the basic info about each website . They also have FAQ’s and a beginner’s guide to get you started, which is exactly what I needed. I’m really excited to give a few of these sites a try, and see if this will be a successful, fun, and productive way to wile away the wee hours.

Free Video Game @ Goozex

Yes, you read that right. It’s really true; I signed up at Goozex Video Game Trading and within a week received a copy of Baldur’s Gate: Dark Alliance for my GameCube. The game was in great condition and I didn’t have to pay a cent. Since then, I’ve become positively addicted to Goozex’s amazing trading system.

Here’s how it works: for a limited time, when you sign up, Goozex will give you 100 points free. Game trading at Goozex is done with points, and 100 points equals many low-demand games. To give you an idea: Burnout is 100 points; Perfect Dark Zero is 150 points; Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door is 250 points, Oblivion Game Of The Year Bundle is 850 points, and Mass Effect is 1000 points. In other words, 100 points can get you a really quality game - no Hello Kitty Island Adventure crap-tastic games that nobody wants. The higher point values tend to be reserved for brand-new games, or games with a really high demand/availability ratio.

The best part is that with Goozex, you trade games for points - but you don’t receive your points until person you’re trading with reports the game as received. This all but eliminates scammers; if you don’t send what you say you’re going to send, you don’t get your points. The end. At this point I’ve traded about ten games, and each experience has been wonderful and easy.

I can’t recommend Goozex enough, so quit reading this and hurry over and register to grab your 100 Free Goozex Points.
